About us
Church history:
Many years ago, in the early twenties, Reverend Price Lawrence Woodson, Sr. had a vision while visiting Los Angeles, CA. He dreamed that one day he would pastor a church by the name of Beth Eden. Beth Eden means a house of pleasantness. The word Beth is defined as a house, family, temple; and Eden is a delightful place, a paradise.
Sunday, October 16, 1960, the church was organized. The three chartered members elected Rev. P.L. Woodson as their pastor, and the church was named Beth Eden Missionary Baptist Church. Beth Eden had their first worship service on October 16, 1960. The service was held in the lower level of New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. During the call to discipleship 15 joined the fellowship. The names of those who joined were Sisters Susie Boatwright, Laura B. Davis, Doris Denson, Alzenia Hughes, Evelyn Johnson, Idellar Lane, Mattie B. Moore, Julia Patterson, Thelma Phillips, Jeanette Riggins, Lucille Rutledge, Mattie Pearl Shines, Rachael Simmons, Sylvia White, and Jeanette Woodson.
The membership then totaled 18.
